Church in Wales invest £10,000 in new worshipping community in Marshfield to promote growth.
The Church in Wales has awarded ALT a grant of £10,000 to promote growth in church attendance.
The grant is being made from the Church Growth Fund, in which the Church is investing £100m to support projects in a once-in-a generation opportunity to resource confident and consistent evangelism throughout Wales.
The Church Growth Fund is a development of the Church in Wales’s recent Evangelism Fund programme, which has been successful in helping create fast-growing congregations in several parts of Wales, including in Hope Street in Wrexham and Citizen Church in Cardiff, as well as the innovative Pererin pilgrim trail project in Gwynedd.
Canon Simon Lloyd (Chief Executive)
“The dream underlying the Church in Wales’ Church Growth Fund is of church communities large and small being resourced to share the love of God and the good news of the Gospel. They will do that in a wonderful variety of creative ways, ALT for example.”
Welcoming the new initiative, Simon Lloyd, the Chief Executive of the Representative Body of the Church in Wales said…
In the grant application, Revd Ross Maidment (Ministry Area Leader) wrote this:
“We expect this project will enable us to reach out and connect with those we do not currently connect with – particularly those in our communities who do not attend church, and particularly those under 40.”
That is exactly what the committee who award the grants hope to see – an intentional purpose and plan. The committee were unanimous in their support of the bid and awarded the £10,000 requested (the maximum grant) in full. Many congratulations!
I’m hoping to be with you at one of the ALT services in 2025 to see the new kit in action and to meet you all.
