Generous Advent

Your generous giving enables us to respond to God’s call to mission in our community.

Giving at Christmas.

Advent is the perfect time to think about generosity. There’s nothing more generous than God sending his Son into the world for us. As Christians we are encouraged to give a share of what we have to support the work of the local church - which relies on your generosity to flourish. That’s why we’re offering this opportunity to make a financial contribution towards the work of St Mary’s in this #SeasonOfGenerosity.

We appreciate the impact of the pandemic, and we haven’t held a Gift Day for several year because of this; however, we are now in a place where we can celebrate what has been an incredibly exciting year of growth and renewal, and seek your support so we can do even more next year. Your donation will help to fund our work in the three areas that we have been focusing on this year.

Children and Families

It’s been great to see children and young people engaging with all that we have to offer at St Mary’s - and we’re incredibly fortunate to have such a dynamic team. Steph and Claire have done some amazing things this year. We’ve seen the return of a regular Sunday Club, the launch of a monthly family service, and some incredible events - like Harvest and the Light Party.

Community Choir

Alex, our Director of Music, has worked incredibly hard to raise the standards of music here at St Mary’s. We’ve come for a place where we sung along to recorded tracks on an iPad, to a place of where we can find ourselves accompanied by a 5-piece band and 25+ strong Community Choir. There’s lots planned musically throughout Advent, and we’re confident that we’ll continue to move from strength to strength.

Building Project

We’ve been thinking about how we can maximise the potential of our buildings as we grow as a community and seek to better serve Marshfield in our current time. We’ve met as a church family to develop a vision and are in the process of appointing an architect who will help us to realise that vision and secure St Mary’s place as the beating heart of our village.

Why are we doing this?

We are an active, lively and growing church family focused wholly on serving Jesus by serving our community. We achieve this by dedicating our time our talents and our treasure.

How much do I give?

This is a personal decision, a choice only you can make with thought and prayer. We’re all in different circumstances. The Bible is clear on two things. First, we give from what we have, not what we don’t have (2 Cor 8:7). Second, we give from our heart, joyfully (2 Cor 9:7) in love and gratitude for what God has done and entrusted to us.

The amounts below offer practical guidance to help you decide and show how your one-off gift can help resource our church as we move towards 2024.

£20

A gift of £20 could pay for the resources required for a Sunday Club Family Service.

£50

A gift of £50 could help cover the cost of two Community Choir rehearsals.

£100

A gift of £100 would contribute towards the cost of obtaining some initial drawings as we make progress with our building project.
